Suan Zao Ren Tang 酸棗仁湯

Zizyphus Combination (tranquilzer)

EFFECTS: nourishing the  blood to tranquilize;  clearing  heat and eliminating vexation.

INDICATION: insomnia due to consumptive disease or vexation of deficiency type; night sweating with profuse dreaming; non-interaction between the heart and kidney; essence-blood wasted; internal retention of phlegm-retained fluid; fearful throbbing and disorders of consciousness; dizziness; dry throat and mouth; unquiet sleep or insomnia due to fright.

CLINICAL REFERENCE: This formula is often used in treating insomnia or somnolence caused by consumptive disease, neurasthenia, forgetfulness,  fright  palpitation, night sweating,  weakness  due to anemia, dizziness, palpitation and tachycardia; nightmare, etc. For insomnia due to agitation,  couple with Hoe/en  & Bamboo  Combinationj(Wen Dan Tang);  For insomnia induced by fright palpitation, couple with Bupleurum Formula(Yi Gan San) . For neurotic insomnia, couple with  Licorice  & Jujube  Combination(Gan Mai Da Zao Tang)
